About Me

By: Robert Dunn
Robert Dunn is an 18 year old F.I.S. skier born in Hanover, New Hampshire; a small community in the northeastern US. He now lives in Calgary, Alberta and skis in the Canadian Rockies. Robert started skiing at the age of 6 at the Dartmouth Ski way. He started ski racing at the age of 9 when he moved to Calgary, first with the help of the Banff Alpine Racers (in Nancy Green) and the FAST Alpine Ski Team (for K1 and K2). In K1, Robert got to go to the Alberta Winter Games, getting gold and silver medals. He also got a silver in Super G after being in the hospital the day before. Robert finished off K2; 1st for Super G, 2nd for GS national points and forth overall. In ski cross he has been 1st, 2nd and 3rd in North American tour races. At 16 years old, he placed 6th at the under 21 world championships. Robert’s greatest inspiration is Joey O’Brien, his coach. "Joey is a little difficult and stern sometimes," quotes Robert, “but his determination and extensive knowledge of the sport makes him a great ski coach as well as an amazing person.”
Robert has done bike racing with the University of Calgary Oval program in the summer. He has had another great coach in Stephen Burke. He competed in the Alberta Summer Games for mountain biking in the summer of 2010. He crashed in Mountain Bike Nationals and was covered in road rash and Canmore dirt. He did the hill climb race at COP and came third for under 17 men. He also did spring basketball and began biking late this summer. Finally he plays volleyball on the Canuck Stuff U17 volleyball team and loves it.

My Sports
Top 4
1. Ski Cross
I am a member of the Alberta Ski Cross team. Our coach, Stanley Hayer, is a two time Olympian in Ski Cross and Alpine. I have placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in ski cross Nor-Ams. When I was 16 I placed 6th at under 21 worlds.

2. Skiing
I ski because I love the snow and I like to go fast. I also like the sense of power it gives me to go as fast as I want down the mountain.
3. Biking
I got into competitive biking through the cycling program at the Olympic Oval. My club is Cycelmeisters or Bowcycle. I bike race because it is great training for skiing and because it’s thrilling.
4. Volleyball
I played School volleyball from grades nine to 11. (My concussion didnt allow me to play 12) In grade 10 and 11 I was recognized as a rocky view school division all star. This led me to make the decision to play competitive Volleyball. I played for the u17 Canucks, and the u18 Eight the year after.
